The kitchen.
The hub of the home, where everyone gathers.
It can be used to set the theme of your entire space so it is important to take some time and make sure you get it right.
So here’s the Mood Board that I created to bring the design to life:
The two features I wanted to accentuate in this kitchen were: the brick fireplace and the exposed beams.
When selecting the cabinet colours, a modern stark white didn’t feel right for this home. It needed something that felt comfortable, soothing, welcoming and natural.
I had 4 different options picked out:
- Clary Sage Sherwin Williams
- Wethersfield Moss Benjamin Moore
- Rosemary Sprig Benjamin Moore
- Nantucket Gray Benjamin Moore
If you’re picking a colour for your cabinets that you’ve never seen in person before… I HIGHLY recommend spending the money to buy the paint samples and actually test them in your space.
Before painting the samples I was 99% sure I was going with Clary Sage.
After painting the samples I was 100% sure I was NOT going with Clary Sage.
It is a beautiful colour but much brighter than what I was going for in this space.
The winner after much debate was Nantucket Grey by Benjamin Moore.
To balance the green we used Simply White by Benjamin Moore on the uppers.
Countertop:
The Quartz countertop we went with was called Ocean Foam from Horizon Laminates. It was a nice crisp white with a very slight greig tone throughout.
Lighting:
Over the kitchen sink we used two black sconce lights with gold accents to compliment the cabinet hardware.
Wayfair Black and Gold Sconce Lighting
On the ceiling we used shiplap from Kent and painted it Simply White to match the rest of the room and cabinets.
Ceiling Shiplap:
Simply White Benjamin Moore OC-117.
We refinished the beams in the kitchen with a dark wood stain to really make them pop against the white ceiling.
The Backsplash:
Masia Blanco Porcelain tile in 3”x12” glossy from Centura.
Textured Glossy White Subway Tile
Lastly for the flooring, we tried as best we could to match with the original hardwood throughout the rest of the home.
Flooring:
The exact one we used is out of stock but this one is very similar:
